"Positive News is a journal of empowerment. The articles free us from the constraints of the 'can't do' mentality that controls so much of our everyday lives. The stories inspire and encourage us to face our collective problems squarely and honestly and to find creative and effective ways of solving them."
Barbara Lifton, Member of the New York State Assembly, 125th district
"I look forward to every new issue of Positive News. It is such a contrast to the usual negative fare of the mainstream media. Positive News provides us with a great opportunity to see how ordinary people here at home and around the world use common sense, imagination and an optimistic outlook to confront and deal with the whole range of issues and problems of modern society. Reading Positive News has become a habit that I don't want to break."
Carolyn K. Peterson, Mayor, City of Ithaca, NY
"There's a lot of negative news in the world, and if that's all that people can think about, if that's where our imaginations are locked, then things will spiral in that direction. That's why we need a new medium for news about a better future that we all deserve and are capable of creating."
-Paul Glover
"It's good to be reminded of the positive energy in our community. Too often the focus is on the negative. Reading Positive News reminds me who I'm working for."
-Lauren Signer, Ithaca Chief of Police
"I think of Positive News as I do our Alternative Community School--as providing an unique opportunity for people to see the world through a lens whose perspective focuses us on that which unconventionally beyond the mainstream, but that is rooted in building a capacity of progressive change and hope for the future."
-Joe Greenburg, Principal, Alternative Community School
"I entered medical school 38 years ago to use medicine as a vehicle for social change: I'm an activist. As activists, we DO need to know what's going on, so that we can change the world for the better. But this doesn't mean boycotting the good news, the positive news, the news about love and generosity---which is ALSO going on in the world. The Positive News Paper is a great direction, and I applaud it: it presents us with the news of our hope and humanity, so that we can continue to work to change the world."
-Patch Adams
I have 3 children in the military. When the war started 5 years ago we were inundated with war news while my daughter was stationed in Kuwait. The stress of the news coverage on tv changed my life forever. I do not watch television but one hour, once a week. In the mornings, on my way to work, I found myself crying each time I heard the news coverage of the war. When I found a copy of Positive News I was elated that I could actually read an entire newspaper and feel good about each and every article. I praise your efforts for publishing a newspaper that gives me hope.

What a breath of fresh air! At a time when all we see in the news is death, pain, and crime, it was a pleasure to read your Summer 2006 issue; I especially enjoyed the article on Father Berrigan and Clare Grady. Their hopeful outlook makes living in here a little easier. world."
